Weeks
1 and 2
·
Game lasts 90 minutes.
·
Each turn at bat, every player gets an opportunity to hit
each inning (even if the fielding team
manages to record three outs).
·
After hitting the ball, the batter runs to first and
stops or, if the ball makes it through the infield,
may advance to second base. No more than a
double on any given at-bat. No advancing on
errant throws to first. If the
ball doesn't leave the infield, batter stops at first base.
·
If the fielders manage a put-out, the batter takes a
seat. Coaches serve as umpires.
·
Try to station a parent at each base to help direct the
runners
(and the parent at first base
also gets to back-up all the errant throws to first).
· Coaches
will pitch under hand to batters. While the coach pitches, the limit is
10 pitches. If the player
does not put the ball in play
after 10 pitches, the player is out. (Pitch limit keeps the game moving.)
·
No score-keeping first two weeks.
Weeks
3 through 8
·
Game lasts 90 minutes.
·
Each turn at bat ends when the fielding team records
three outs or the batting team bats around
(i.e., no player bats more than
once each inning).
·
If the fielders record a put-out, the batter or runner
takes a seat. Coaches serve as umpires.
·
If the ball does not leave the infield, the batter may
attempt to advance to second on an errant throw
to first. If the batter
makes it to second safely, the batter stops -- i.e., no more than a single
extra
base for the batter on an errant throw to
first. Runners on base may advance as far as they can.
·
If the ball leaves the infield, batter and any runners on
base may advance as far as they can.
·
Coach pitches to each player. No strike outs, but
if batter does not put ball in play after
10 pitches, the batter is out and takes a
seat.
·
No leading, stealing or advancing on passed balls or wild
pitches.
· Score will be kept.
